About the Wilmette Schools Project

Our schools are a centerpiece of our community. Test scores are only one narrow measure of how they are performing.

But when scores are falling quickly and we are consistently failing to meet growth expectations, the test scores are telling us something is going wrong—and calling the community to action.

The Evidence Speaks for Itself

98 Fewer Students are Proficient at WJHS in 2019 compared to 2015

Students all across Illinois take the IAR test (formerly the PARCC), and based on their test scores they achieve proficiency or not. At Wilmette Junior High School proficiency rates dropped from 77% to 67% over 5 years in math, and from 73% to 61% in reading. This drop means that 98 more WJHS are not proficient than would have been with the 2015 proficiency rates.
